Capacity:
META has 20 active trainers and an additional 15 who serve as back-up and specialty trainers. We train over 6000 students a year in over 1000 classes. We have a 6 person full time support staff for training.
Mobility:
META teaches 40% of its classes outside its regular training centers. While we are not immune to the issues facing a mobile training program, we have the experience to anticipate and deal with them. In addition we have Training Centers in Lawrence, KS; Nashville, TN, Tampa, FL; Jacksonville, FL; St. Louis, MO (in cooperation with St. Louis University); Honolulu, HI; Omaha, NE; St. Paul, MN; and El Paso, TX. META regularly trains in 25 states and overseas.
Accreditations:
META is the nation's leader in lead and asbestos accreditation. We hold over 150 state and federal accreditations. Our certificates are more valuable in many cases because they are recognized in more states than other providers.
Corporate Experience:
META has been offering accredited asbestos training since 1986. We have been presenting lead classes since 1990, so we have been a part of the lead industry from its infancy. Operating in multiple states, we can offer good ideas and experience from around the nation.
Experienced Trainers:
META’s trainers are experienced and knowledgeable. Most of our staff has trained with us at least 5 years, and several have been trainers 10 to 25 years. Most of the staff has 4 year college degrees in technical areas or education.
Quality and Compliance:
META is committed to conducting its training by the book. We have our students submit anonymous evaluations of each class, which are reviewed by the training manager. As an organization, recognizing the frailty of human nature, we are committed to policing ourselves and constantly improving our product.
Recognition:
META is recognized as a national leader in environmental and safety training. META’s founder and president, Brad Mayhew, has been invited to speak on lead issues at the the Environmental Information Association National Conference, the Tennessee Safety Congress, the National Environmental Trainers Association, the St. Louis branch of the Certified Hazardous Materials Managers, the Kansas Housing Authority Managers, and the Florida Association of Code Enforcers Conference, among others. He has written many of the META manuals, and contributed to industry journals. He was on the EPA’s peer review team for the EPA Asbestos Maintenance Worker Curriculum.
Reliability:
META has been the choice of numerous agencies and organizations for training.
For lead training these include, for example, Housing Authorities (TN Housing Authority, Tampa, FL, Omaha, NE), contractors (Sykes Lead Cleaning, JP Cripps Construction, Jacksonville Construction), schools (Pinellas Schools, University of Nebraska), consultants (Law Engineering, PSI, Pickering), industrial clients (NPS Energy, FL Dept. of Transportation)and federal agencies (US Coast Guard, Tinker AFB, US Navy). META was selected to provide HUD sponsored training in 9 of the 50 states, more states than any other 3 providers combined.
Spanish Capabilities:
Many of META’s trainers are bilingual in Spanish and
English. Our Spanish speaking trainers have down to earth
hands-on industry experience. META’s distinctive
difference is the professional level of its Spanish speaking
staff, which includes a PhD, a graduate architect, an MD, an
MA in Latin American Studies, and a Masters in Safety.
META offers the broadest geographic range of Spanish
language accreditation in lead and asbestos in the industry.
This enables the client who takes advantage of the
accreditation opportunities to follow work in multiple
regions of the country.
